Anchorage Good News

A small room at the Anchorage Baptist Temple was filled with local residents and several Alaska Legislators, about problems rising from heavy-handed politics affecting employment and health care. Listening to the Hearts of Alaskans took place last Monday evening. Scheduled from 4pm until 7 pm, the listening session went well beyond 7pm. Senators Roger Holland, Lora Reinbold, and Representatives in attendance were David Eastman, Christopher Kurka, in person and on the phone were Representatives George Rauscher and Ben Carpenter. People testified via a video link displayed on two large screens behind the legislators, rows of folding chairs were filled with people, and others stood along the edge of the room. Individuals told of their problems, others spoke of being informed, and keeping in touch with other people. Some thanked the Alaska Senators and Representatives present, like Wade Rippie, saying “It takes a lot to speak. To somehow push through.” #anchoragegoodnews
